There could be few types of collisions as dangerous as incidents that occur after a vehicle drifts into oncoming lanes. While head-on collisions can occur under various circumstances, incidents involving the presence of impairment run a greater risk of prompting similar results. A recent car accident involving the suspected presence of impairment has reportedly claimed the lives of two individuals and injured four others in California.

Multiple-vehicle crash

Reports indicate that the incident took place on a recent Monday night when the driver of a westbound vehicle suddenly lost control and veered into oncoming lanes. The vehicle reportedly proceeded to crash into a second vehicle head-on soon thereafter. Authorities assert that a third vehicle overturned after the driver attempted to steer clear of the initial incident.

According to authorities, the drivers of both the first and second vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. While reports also indicate that up to four others suffered injuries in the crash, no further information was provided as to the nature of their injuries. Authorities have also advised that investigations suggest that the driver who caused the incident may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time.

Presence of impairment

When the negligent decisions of an impaired driver cause a dangerous car accident to occur, those who suffer serious harm or sudden loss may be left facing an understandable need for answers. Following the crash, a person in California could choose to speak with an attorney for guidance on all available legal avenues and advice on what to expect from the process. In doing so, a person could obtain advice in preparing to seek the restitution deserved through the proper channels and assistance in preparing to navigate the process.
